The Primary Election ou the 23rd inst. was very qi
considering the interest ol our people in the results, especially
the gubernatorial race. All ot the officers nominated have our

September 1 st.
Hoke Smith will be formally
nominated as the Democratic
candidate for governor to suc
ceed Gov. Joseph M. Brown at

convention will be held in the

called to order at 10 o’clock by

There will be 368 votes in the
convention, but there is no lim>
itation among the number of
delegates and alternates. For
instance, a county having only
two votes in the convention may
send eight delegates. The num
ber of delegates will, make no
difference whatever, as every
county will vote as a unit for
the gubernatorial candidate that
carried it.
While the voting strength of
each county is fixed by rule,
there is no limitation on the
number ol delegates. The
county chairmen are authorized
to appoint as many delegates as
they choose, provided of course,
they are named from the sup*
porters of the successful candi
date.

Last Sunday afternoon a quiet

city. Mr. Geo. L. Hamrick and
Miss Jennie Mae Walker while
out tor an alternoon walk stopped
at the residence ot Mr. H. O.
Roop and were quietly married
at five o’clock.

The A. & M. Fair this year
will hav-t so many new features
that it is expected more than
double the people will attend,
making it the greatest event of
Carrolls history.
The educational feature of the
fair cannot be estimated, and it
is hoped that every man, wo
man and child in the district
will attend and see what our
neighbors are doing.
