It is feared that the County Com

several counties nothing has been
done towards contributing to the
Georgia exhibit.

to $20 per ton, while rye straw | ond, and tlio Jesup band the third, j
sells from $5 to $7'50 per ton. It
is believed by those who ought to
know that before midwinter it
reached, these figures will go much
higher. In the Chicago market.
No. 1 timothy is quoted at $10;
No. fiat $8 and $9. The severe
and protracted drouths prevailing
the past season in various parts of
the country have, in many install
ces, proved very disastrous to the
hay crops, so muoli so in fact that
by some the shortage in the New
England and Middlo States is csti
mated as approximating 50 per
aent. With these facts in view, it
is glain that the sweet succulent
grasses of the Western prairies, in
the form of baled hay. will com
mand good prices in the markets of
the East, white naturally the scar
city of hay there, and the conse
quent rise in price will necessarily
atfect the state or the market
here. It will therefore pay
the fanners of the south to give
some attention to this matter.
To this end, too, we need hardly to
call attention to the necessity of
saving all the corn fodder possible,
its value as food for cattle, or
even horses and sheep, when cut
and properly cured, is so well
known that we need not diaeusa
the question here. Tim point is,
that plenty of this sort of feed
will leave more surplus hay which
oan Its spared to supply the de
raand for It in those states where
the yield has been light and the
liarns are not only half filled.

betting on the general result ofthe
slcotion is even, while the odds are

Addison Cam mack, the well known
Wall street broker, bet $37,000
that Cleveland would be the next

night Edward Kearney, one of the

$3,000 that Cleveland would be

with the proprietor of the Ilotl-

fact in connection with the betting
is that large sums of money have
been telegraphed hero within the

with instructions to bet it on
Cleveland. $97,000 was received ili.’ e i«whe»
